Lucenne

The start of this project was to create a multifunctional product that could help to reduce stress. I wanted to combine my interest in lighting with light and soft shapes and something playful. Then, I came across a reference of sand painting I thought of the calming Japaneese Zen gardens and how they could be joined into one piece.

Lucenne is a tabletop lamp inspired by zen gardens that aims to put you in a calm (almost meditational) state of mind. Thanks to its selection of materials and textile surfaces, you can let your mind wander while exploring the underlying materials and the beautiful light effects that they create.

The semi-sphere part of the lamp has a kind expression and functions as a soft ambient light. Once picked up, you can play with the effects given by moving the material and exposing the light under the textile on the bottom of the base. Ideal conditions would be to use it in a dark or semi-dark room as away to take your mind off stress and anxiety or to simply calm down.
